As we mentioned yesterday when discussing the possibility of Cade Cunningham getting a signature sneaker, Nike Basketball’s roster of signature athletes is undergoing a passing of the torch. Yeah, LeBron James and Kevin Durant will likely continue their lines well past retirement as they signed lifetime deals, but what’s a lifetime deal even mean nowadays?
Paul George once had one of the most popular signature sneaker lines, but as he aged and his level of play diminished, Nike quietly shelved the PG series in 2022. However, fans of the original Nike PG 1 will be pleased to hear the sneaker is making a comeback in 2026.
Helping kick off the revival of the Nike PG 1 will be the original Flip The Switch colorway, which was released in May 2017 to coincide with the NBA Playoffs. Alongside Paul George’s pair, Nike created colorways for LeBron James (LeBron 14), Kevin Durant (KD 9 Elite), and Kyrie Irving (Kyrie 3) that all featured broken Swoosh logos and color schemes intended to reflect the energy of the NBA Playoffs.
