Die-hard sneakerheads and those who appreciate history know the name Aaron Cooper. This legendary designer crafted some of the best and most well-known Nike Basketball and ACG models during his period with the company in the '90s and 2000s. Now working with the Chinese-based brand EQLZ, Cooper has designed a brand-new performance basketball model with the EQLZ 247. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for Cooper and EQLZ, bringing together innovative design and cutting-edge technology. Cooper's vision for the EQLZ 247 centers on creating a basketball shoe that acts as an extension of the human foot, blending natural inspiration with modern performance.
The EQLZ 247 features a sleek design that combines top-grain leather overlays with a knit base, offering both durability and flexibility. TPU lateral containment is present on both sides of the sneaker, providing essential support and stability during intense gameplay. Its minimalist yet aggressive silhouette further enhances the shoe's aesthetic, making it a standout on the court. Underfoot, the EQLZ 247 utilizes a PEBAX cushioning system, known for its responsiveness and energy return, ensuring maximum comfort and performance. The outsole is inspired by Sharkskin, delivering exceptional grip and traction, crucial for quick cuts and explosive movements.
The EQLZ 247 will debut on May 18, 2024, through EQLZ online and select retailers. The first colorway to release will be the two-tone Phantom Zombie rendition, while the Black Jade and Moon White will release at a later date. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
